Minor Surgery

We offer a minor surgery clinic at the practice, led by Dr Kiran Raza. These clinics are held fortnightly and are often very busy, so patients may be placed on a waiting list before an appointment becomes available, the reception team will be able to tell you an approximate waiting time.

To access this clinic, you will first need to be assessed by one of our GPs, who will confirm whether a minor procedure is appropriate and refer you into Dr Raza’s clinic.

Please be aware that this service is carried out within a GP setting, so it is suitable for smaller, straightforward procedures only. If your condition is not suitable for treatment in the practice, we will arrange a referral to the local dermatology team.

If you are unsure, please book an appointment with a GP in the first instance to discuss your options.

What can be treated in the minor surgery clinic?

The clinic is suitable for a range of small, straightforward procedures for diagnosis and / or treatment including:

  • Punch biopsies to diagnose actinic keratosis
  • Bowens disease

The above conditions are treated using double curettage and cautery.

We also:

  • Remove skin lesions such as moles, cysts, skin tags - if they are causing problems, for example catching on clothing, bleeding or irritating.
  • Also other small procedures where appropriate.

All procedures are assessed on an individual basis. If a condition is more complex or not suitable for treatment in the practice, we will refer you to the local dermatology or hospital team.

Joint injections are arranged separately and do not require you to wait for a minor surgery clinic appointment.
