Weight management
Open to all adults, offering support with weight loss or maintenance. Losing even 5–10% of your body weight can have significant health benefits, including improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels.
You will usually be seen by one of our nurses for an initial appointment, with one follow-up to help you get started, set realistic goals, and answer any questions.
For patients with a higher BMI (usually 30 or above, or 27.5 and above for some groups), we will also recommend a referral to local weight management services for more structured, ongoing support. These services provide additional help with nutrition, activity, and long-term lifestyle changes. Some of the possible referral pathways include:
- Online programmes you can do at home, with coaching and support over several weeks
- Local group or community programmes offering practical advice on food, activity, and long-term lifestyle changes
- Specialist services for patients who may need more tailored or medical support
Please don’t feel embarrassed about discussing your weight or accepting a referral — this is a very common and supportive pathway, and we are here to help you in a practical, non-judgemental way.
